Firmware and troubleshooting

Keep the PulStar device up to date, and get it working again when it stops responding.

Update the firmware

When a firmware update is available for the connected PulStar, the app tells you. Click OK to open Preferences, then click Update Firmware on the Advanced tab. The button is highlighted green when an update is recommended.

You can also check at any time: choose PulStar > Preferences, click Advanced, then look below Update Firmware. It reads “You are running the latest version!” when no update is needed.

Important: Don't turn off the computer or the PulStar, or disconnect the USB cable, while the update is running. Interrupting it can damage the device. The device resets itself when the update is complete.

If the update fails, unplug the PulStar and plug it back in, or turn it off and on, then try again. If it still fails, contact PulStar support.

If the PulStar isn't responding

If the device stops acknowledging commands, PulStar shows PulStar Not Responding and tries again on its own. If that doesn't help:

  1. Click Retry now.
  2. If the retry fails, click Reset Device to reset the USB connection.
  3. If the device still doesn't respond, unplug the USB cable from the PulStar and plug it back in.

Check the indicator lights

The three green lights next to the impulse head connector should all be lit. From left to right:

PowerCheck the power cord and the switch on the back of the PulStar.
