Choose PulStar > Preferences (⌘,), then click a tab in the toolbar. Hold the pointer over any setting to see a short description of it.
Changes take effect right away. To keep your settings the same on all your Macs and iPads, turn on Sync Preferences on the General tab.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sync Preferences | Syncs these preferences through iCloud with your other Macs and iPads running PulStar. |
| Start App In Full Screen | Opens PulStar in full screen every time it starts. |
| Spine Background Opacity | How strongly the spine image shows behind the analysis bars. Drag left to fade it. |
| Show Grid | Shows grid lines behind the analysis chart, spaced at 20% of its width, to help you spot vertebrae that differ from their neighbors by 20% or more. |
| Show Raw Readings | Shows the measured value next to each bar on the analysis chart. |
| Green Bars / Orange Bars | Show green bars for intersegmental joints whose readings are in the normal range, and orange bars for joints just below the red-bar threshold. |
| Show Regional Stiffness | Highlights regions of the spine whose readings are higher or lower than expected. Turning it on turns off Show Only High Regions and Show Only Low Regions, which highlight just one kind. |
| Zoomed View During Analysis / Treatment | Shows an enlarged view of the readings during analysis, or of the selected vertebra's readings during treatment. |
| Preload As Speedometer | Shows the preload as a speedometer-style dial during treatment. When this is off, the preload shows as a horizontal bar that fills from yellow to green to orange as preload builds. |
| Show Previous Visit | Shows the patient's previous visit beside today's analysis for comparison. |
| System Beep | Plays a sound for each reading and when analysis or treatment readings finish. Turning it off silences all session sounds. |
| Announce Segments | Speaks the name of each spinal region during analysis, and each vertebra during treatment. Force changes and adjustment mode changes are always spoken, even when this is off, for safety. |
| Text To Speech Voice / Speech Rate | The voice and speed used for spoken announcements. A sample plays when you change them. |
| Text Size | Text size used in the patient list. |
| Adjustment Title | Whether treatment is labeled “Adjust” or “Mobilize” on screen and on printed reports. |
| Patient Required Fields | Which details (name, number, or both) must be entered before a new patient can be saved. |
| Allow control from Apple Watch | Lets a paired Apple Watch control sessions on this Mac over Bluetooth. Reset Watch Access disconnects every paired watch. See Control PulStar with Apple Watch. |
| Acknowledgements | Third-party software used in PulStar and its licenses. |
Sets the background and text (foreground) colors for each spinal region on the analysis chart: cervical (C1–C7), thoracic (T1–T12), lumbar (L1–L5) and sacral. Notes Foreground sets the default text color for session notes, on screen and on printed reports. Reset to Defaults restores the original colors.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto Select Vertebra | How many vertebrae to select for treatment automatically after analysis, starting with the most significant findings. Choose 0 to select them yourself. |
| Adjustment Order | The order in which selected vertebrae are treated. Auto starts with the most significant finding; the other options follow the spine top to bottom or bottom to top. |
| Position | The default patient position for analysis: prone, sitting or standing. A patient's own saved position is used instead when there is one. |
| Start In Adjustment | Opens sessions directly in treatment. While this is on, analysis is turned off: the Analysis and Compare modes are hidden, the Apple Watch cannot switch to analysis, and analysis charts are left out of session reviews and printed reports. |
| Start at L5 | Analyzes the lumbar spine from L5 upward instead of from L1 downward. |
| Display Primary Vertebra Only | Labels findings by their primary vertebra instead of as the joint between two vertebrae. |
| Disable Post Analysis | Skips the post-treatment analysis. The post analysis is hidden, unless Replace Post with Adjusted is also on, which shows the readings taken during treatment in its place. |
| Auto Save Patient Preferences | Remembers the force used for each spinal region and makes it that patient's default at the next visit. |
| Adjustment Effective Beep | Beeps when the impulses stop because the stiffness has stabilized, in Osseous mode. Requires System Beep. |
| Analysis Impulses | Number of impulses delivered at each vertebra during analysis. |
| Force defaults | Default forces for analysis, for each spinal region, and for soft tissue. A patient's own saved force is used instead when there is one. Auto Save Soft Tissue Force updates the soft tissue default to the force last used. |
| Max Number Of Impulses | The most impulses delivered to one vertebra before the impulses stop: 100, 150, 200 or 999. In Osseous mode they can stop sooner, when the stiffness stabilizes. Myofascial mode always allows up to 999. You can stop at any time by lifting the impulse head. |
Your clinic's name, the doctor's name, and the address and phone number printed on patient reports. Clinic Email is the contact address for your PulStar account; it is not printed on reports.
Printed Description is the text printed on patient reports to explain the PulStar analysis. Reset to Default restores the original text.
Email Message is included when you email a report to a patient. Review Link adds a Google review link to the email: in your Google Business Profile, open Read Reviews, choose Get more reviews, then select Copy, and paste the full link, starting with https://.
Connects PulStar to your imaging server (PACS) and sets how images are displayed and stored. See Connect to an imaging server.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Neuropatholator Password / Default | The password for the Neuropatholator anatomy content, and the screen it shows first. |
| Data Folder | Where PulStar stores patient data. Changes take effect right away, without restarting PulStar. See Patient data, sync and backups. |
| Clear Cache / Rebuild Cache | Deletes cached data, or clears it and rebuilds it from your patient data. Patient data is not affected. |
| Red, yellow and selection thresholds | How far a reading must be from the average, in standard deviations, to show as a red or yellow bar, or to be selected automatically for treatment. Post Behavior chooses which average post-analysis readings are compared against. |
| Soft Tissue/Extremity Locations | Edits the list of soft tissue and extremity locations offered during treatment. |
| Update Firmware / Run Diagnostics | Installs the latest firmware on the connected PulStar, or runs a diagnostic check and sends the results to PulStar support. See Firmware and troubleshooting. |
| Preload Thresholds | Views or changes the device's preload thresholds. Change them only when advised by PulStar support. |
| Start Support Call | Starts a FaceTime Audio call with PulStar support. |
